“Help me do it by myself”
The absorbent mind
In these formative years, children have an incredible ability to absorb knowledge and build the foundation for lifelong learning. Our Preschool program nurtures this natural curiosity, with three and four-year olds attending five morning sessions each week, with the option to extend to full days after a gentle orientation period. In their kindergarten year, children participate in a rich Montessori program aligned with the NESA curriculum - preparing them confidently for the next stage of their learning journey.
Dr. Maria Montessori referred to this stage as the period of the Absorbent Mind. Under the guidance of the Montessori Director, students follow a specially designed curriculum covering five key areas:
-

Practical life:
Aids the child’s adaptation to their environment, refines movement, and promotes concentration.
-

Sensorial:
Enables the child to order and classify visual, auditory, kinaesthetic and tactile sensorial experiences.
-

Language and literacy:
Assists the child to develop communication skills in listening, speaking, viewing, writing and reading.
-
Mathematics:
Uses concrete materials to introduce number symbolisation, the decimal system, memorisation, geometry, and the four operational processes (addition, multiplication, division and subtraction).
-

Cultural studies:
Imparts awareness and knowledge of the child’s local and global communities, including art, music, botany, zoology, geography, history and first nations.
In carefully prepared environments we foster independence and mutual respect from a very early age.
Our morning work cycle enhances concentration and instils a love of learning by allowing each child to explore lessons through subject matter and materials that spark their unique interests. This approach nurtures each child’s full potential, helping them grow into competent individuals at school, at home, and within the wider community.
The preschool program (cycle 1 of their journey here at our main campus) fosters confidence, independence, concentration, self-discipline, motivation, respect and—most importantly—a love of learning.

“It struck me coming into a Montessori environment, to see at such a young age what children are capable of when given the chance and opportunity, in a way that is age-appropriate.”
