BARRENJOEY MONTESSORI SCHOOL is trying to contact it's alumni. It is trying to update their records to include all families who have ever had a pupil at the school and to ask past parents and students to share their experiences of Montessori education, compared with other educational methods they have experienced since.
When the school started in 1985 it was a very small operation, run by the parents in a church hall in Newport and it moved to its present site behind the Avalon sand dunes in 1990.
The school is holding an information evening on Tuesday 5th August at 7.00pm, in the Barrenjoey High School Hall. The purpose of the evening is:
- To provide information about the methods and philosophy of a Montessori education to current and prospective parents.
- To explore why it is that the families who choose Montessori are so committed to it, which is one of the reasons why the school is asking all alumni and their families to contact them.
- To explain the school’s plans to expand so that it may offer as many families as possible the opportunity of a Montessori education – in recent years its annual waitlist has grown so rapidly that the school is now unable to offer places to all those families seeking this method of education.
EVERYONE is welcome at this meeting, not just past, present and prospective parents, but any member of the public who would like to understand more about Montessori and why this method of education is flourishing worldwide.
